I found this deck browsing MTGGoldfish created by SaffronOlive, and after watching different match-ups I'm convinced it's a serious competitor for Standard at the moment. - Your combo can only be removed by grave hate, and not many sideboards are prepared for that in this metagame. Unless it exiles the entire graveyard, you're most likely safe to move along. - Infinite Obliteration gets stumped on what target to hit. Removing Amalgams and/or Haunted Dead still leaves you with Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor to combo with.- You're also virtually removal-proof, and your board state is able to recover instantly. While exile is present in the format, you can sacrifice creatures to Evolutionary Leap and Voldaren Pariah (rarely), or alternatively you can destroy them with Concoctions. Looks solid to me. I'm thinking about trying to build it, but I'd like some feedback before i get in over my head, what do YOU think about it?
1. Use Vessel, Gather, and Grapple to assemble your combo. You want any Haunted Dead in the graveyard, while your Amalgams and Raptors can stay in your hand (usually don't want them going to the bin right away, depends on the situation). - Usually it seems better to keep Raptors in your hand longer in case you don't immediately find a Den Protector and need a creature on board. It's also positive to keep Amalgams in your hand because you can use them for discard material to get Haunted Dead back. They do still trigger if they're discarded that way.2. Activate Haunted Dead and watch your board state flood. You can also trigger Amalgam if you morph a Protector and return a Raptor. - Obviously this is best done at the end of your opponent's turn. Keeping the spirit token up to block makes Haunted Dead a nice wall. 3. Use Evolutionary Leap or combat to kill off Haunted Dead as needed to recur more Amalgams. If swarming your opponent isn't enough, which happens more often than not, getting a Voldaren Pariah (which can be rarely but possibly madnessed out) to Wrath Of God their board or Decimator Of Provinces to stomp them typically closes out the game.
