Deck Description

In preparation for the next rotation of Standard, I asked myself what could be fun to play while these devotion decks struggle to recover from their losses. I remember seeing U/R Artifacts roaming around and thought it looked fun, then I noticed people making G/R Artifacts and thought it looked pretty solid too. So, why not combine the best of both worlds? With the introduction of Blue or Green, depending on which deck you preferred for artifacts before, the deck's possibilities stretches so much farther. Tell me what you think and how you think I can improve this deck.

How to Play

Haunted Plate Mail - Great card on its own being able to become a 4/4 on your turn to swing or your opponent's turn to block, with Ghor-Clan Rampager rotating out swinging is going to be a bit harder for R/G Monsters and Jund Monsters, not to mention Courser of Kruphix will have a hard time blocking/getting through him. He can also equip to your Ornithopter for a 4/6 Flyer or even a 9/9 flyer if you Ensoul Artifact it alongside it. You can equip it to a Darksteel Citadel with Ensoul Artifact for a 9/9 with Indestructible, some really fun shenanigans with this card.

Ornithopter - A lot of versatility with Ensoul Artifact, Haunted Plate Mail, Shrapnel Blast, etc.

Scuttling Doom Engine - Giving this big guy haste with either Generator Servant or Hammer of Purphoros is just a terrifying thing for your opponent, and yet another thing that not even Courser of Kruphix can block. Sacrificing it to either Shrapnel Blast or Life's Legacy either deals 11 damage right to your opponent's face/deal 6 damage to them and 5 to a creature, or deals 6 damage to your opponent's face and draw 6 cards.

Soul of New Phyrexia - Another great guy to give haste especially since it has trample! You can sacrifice it to Shrapnel Blast or Life's Legacy and not have to worry of it going into the grave since you can use its ability there.

Elvish Mystic - Great one drop mana dork for early ramp to get the bigger stuff on the field earlier.

Generator Servant - Great mana dork to give your Scuttling Doom Engine, Soul of New Phyrexia , and Haunted Plate Mail haste!

Sylvan Caryatid - Great addition from green into this deck allowing you access to all the colors you need while also being a great blocker, what's not to love?

Ensoul Artifact - Equip it to your Ornithopter for a 5/5 Flyer, your Darksteel Citadels for a 5/5 Indestructable, or just turn any of your spare artifacts into a 5/5 creature. Why would you leave this gem out?

Hammer of Purphoros - Giving Haste to your creatures like Scuttling Doom Engine just speeds up the deck so much. The second ability is even relevant giving you 3/3 creatures with haste as well as targets for Shrapnel Blast and Life's Legacy.

Life's Legacy - What U/R Artifacts didn't have was a solid draw engine. Sure they included Bident of Thassa, but then again there's not many creatures you would really attack with or at least not as much to give you consistent draw chances. Life's Legacy allows you to draw 1-10 cards for just two mana (the 10 is a Scuttling Doom Engine equipped with Haunted Plate Mail)!

The really notable land is Darksteel Citadel which is a great target for your Ensoul Artifact and Shrapnel Blast. The rest of the mana base is fixated for what you would need at the start of the game to give you more access to mana in the late game.

Phyrexian Revoker - With the release of some really dangerous Planeswalkers this deck is going to need a way to handle them, and that's when this card comes in. You can also throw it in for Polukranos to deal with its monstrous, as well as other cards that you can deem as a threat to this deck.

Mistcutter Hydra - Great card for the Mono-Blue matchup and the control matchup and can be made really big with our new access to mana dorks.

Circle of Flame/Polymorphist's Jest - These two cards go great with each other being able to deal with Master of Waves and his tokens together, as well as killing Gods. There could be times where you don't need both at the same time, but together these cards hit every creature, even Hexproof ones.

Unravel the Æther - This slot was a bit debatable but I ended up putting it here because the deck has a hard time dealing with Banishing Light, Gods, and is also a great card in the mirror matchup if that ever happens.

Deck discussion for R/U/G Artifacts

I love Life's Legacy. I first saw it combo with Phytotitan.
Good stuff.
Yep, this deck is similar to mine. Would be interesting match.

Definitely has my like.

But why? Isn't that card and Scuttling Doom Engine + Shapnel Blast to build the whole dack around?
I was just going to order cards to do a similiar one.

Put Life's Legacy back, I wanted to test out to see how the deck would run with more threats, but I found myself in need of card advantage.
