Deck Description

Well, this weeks Deck Building Challenge is all about green hate. Here's some context.

I was looking through my friends collection when I found "Heroic Intervention" and asked "where it's been all my life!? I am an avid mono-green beatdown player and this card solves all the problems that universally and unilaterally shutdown mono-green anything and everything.

He told me it wasn't all that great.

So now I want to build a Mono-Green deck that gleefully shoves that card into his face.

So now I'm asking y'all to imagine a world where green can't be countered, targeted, or destroyed, and then make that dream a reality..

I've already given you guys a starting point, fill in the rest!

How to Play

Well the main idea is simple. Create a high pressure deck with creatures that can't be countered, backed up with loads of hexproof instants and destroy canceling abilities. Laugh as your opponent suddenly realizes that there's nothing he can do to stop or change your board and hope he can't out race you.

Mistcutter Hydra would be a good critter to look into.

Cute, but I've found asceticism to be a bit too-little, to late in the past, so I'll add em to the side-board for now. Let's try overrunning the opponent before they have a chance to build up a work-around.

I don't think there's many straight green cards that can emulate Hatebears, outside of including artifacts. But we can play efficient cards and resilient creatures to substitute for the low amount of straight hate.

Scavenging Ooze hates on graveyards.
Kitchen Finks gains you 2 life twice, which is good against burn and aggro.
Obstinate Baloth is a free 4/4 + 4 life if the opponent makes you discard it.
Primal Command can tutor up any of your creatures, put any troublesome noncreature permanent on top of its owner's library, shuffle a graveyard back into its library, or gain you some life. Putting an opponent's land on top of the library is a mini Time Walk like effect.
Beast Within may leave a 3/3 Beast behind, but it can get rid of ANY targatable permanent.
Thrun, the Last Troll is one of the most resilient straight green creatures in all of Magic.
Creeping Corrosion hozes on Artifacts, while Back to Nature hozes enchantments.
Treetop Village can animate into a 3/3. This one is great at avoiding most removal, especially sorcery speed removal, like most wrath effects.
Thragtusk is a big threat that leaves behind a 3/3 token when it leaves the battlefield. It also gains you 5 life.
Oversoul of Dusk has protection from 3 of the 5 colours.
Green has very little in terms of unconditional draw. Harmonize is the best at achieving the unconditional draw.

Because some of the best green cards come with big mana costs, I strongly suggest some form of ramp. One of my favorite forms of ramp is the combo between Arbor Elf and Utopia Sprawl. Turn one: Forest and Arbor Elf. Turn two: Forest, Utopia Sprawl, play something that costs 4. Turn 3: Forest, play something that costs 6.

This sounds good. I will also do some research into hatebears. Thanks!

Hatebears does sound like a natural evolution for the deck, and I'm glad you pointed it out to me, thanks! However, part of the fun of DBC's is the way it exercises creativity and the feeling of "new," so I'll save hybrid color hatebears for another day.

That being said, actual hybrid color cards like oversoul of dusk will count since they can be run in an all green deck.

I might look into creatures like: Gaea's Revenge, Lumberknot, Plated Slagwurm, Silhana Ledgewalker and Terra Stomper.
The cards DedWards said would also complement your strategy greatly.

Hi, so I gave the challenge some thought and came up with this attempt:

I built it based on most of the suggestions written here. It may need a lot more tinkering but the gist is there I think.

Not bad, several new cards I haven't considered, this will take a while to playtest out.
