Oloro, Ageless Ascetic is my general. This deck is the lovechild from my original Commander deck (Hanna, Ship's Navigator was the general), the Jace half of the Jace vs. Vraska Duel Decks, and Oloro's Commander deck from Commander 2013.
While you gain life with Oloro's abilities, you need to draw cards to speed up the deck's tempo (i.e., Greed, Fact or Fiction, Underworld Connections, Impulse, Well of Lost Dreams, Indulgent Tormentor, etc.). You can also stack the deck with combos like Soothsaying and Future Sight. The only countering spells in the deck are Counterspell, Dromar's Charm, Hinder, Power Sink, and Sphinx's Revelation. This deck is not meant to control in that way. Instead, the more cards you draw, the better defensive spells you can cast (Pillow Fort staples like Crawlspace, Righteous Aura, Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Teferi's Moat, etc.). The better defensive spells you have, the more you can focus on offense (i.e., Blinding Angel, Medomai the Ageless, Sphinx of the Steel Wind, Serra Avatar, Steel Hellkite, etc.). While you're doing all of this, you might straight up run a train on your opponents or you might get your face smashed in a couple of times. In case of the latter, just wait... I know this could be a big headache (hence the acetylsalicylic acid reference) and a pretty drawn out game, but it's all worth it! Cards like Control Magic, Banishing Light, Confiscate, Oblivion Ring, Darksteel Mutation, Merciless Eviction, and Toxic Deluge will turn the tides back in your favor. Don't forget that there are game-winning combos you want to look out for (i.e., Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond). Once you have control of the board, you can sit back and relax and watch your life totals rise again as your opponents diminish into nothing.
