Deck discussion for Blue Control

Counterspell is way better than cancel. I also am a little confused on how this is going to be able to control your opponent at all, really.

I'm guessing they're a newer player and using what they have...

Based off of what I see, i'm assuming you have more commons of the same types. I would drop the cerulean wisps and add two more Ponder. I would drop both Tome Scour's because there is not enough mill cards in your deck for the tome scours to matter.
I can tell you like the big fatty creatures, which is normal when you first start playing. Harbor Serpent and Sea Monster are horrible though. Goliath Sphinx isn't bad, it's a big ass flyer and Stormtide Leviathan is a game changer. I recommend getting yourself some Clones if you can if you want to maximize your good fatties.
The one card that actually bugs me in the deck is Springleaf drum... I see no point for it at all.
Any who, I hope some of this helps.

The changes to my deck that you have suggested all make complete sense, I'll have to see if I have the cards to do that with. Thanks alot for your constructive critique, I really appreciate it and your empathy as well.

We were all new at some point to this game... even i get frustrated when i see decks like this sometimes, but with no one to help ya and only complain that it's bad won't change anything.
Feel free to look through my decks for idea's. Some are kinda crap I'll admit cause i made them when i'm bored, but most are pretty damn good.

im a little confused about the theme in here. you have a lot of draw power but you arnt really drawing anything. if i were you i would max out spire golems. they are perfect for a blue deck that relies on playing an instant or sorcery every turn. late game you will be able to play them for free and they actually make a good win condition for control decks. another thing to consider is concentrate. it is a marvelous hand replenisher and not that bad of a turn 4 play, let me know what you want to do here

If you want to ramp up your draw power a little more, you should replace Goliath Sphinx with Consecrated Sphinx. That way you can constantly have card advantage and still get a good flyer out. Also, you should replace Unsummon with Vapor Snag. It's the same thing except that it also deals one damage to the player. If you want a little more control, you could also add some Psychic Barriers.
