Deck Description

Inspired by raggedjoe, drumhead21 and surewhynot, Aaboy66 pushes aside his hatred against Faeries, and joins the enemy in the Format of Extended and bases his Deck (yet again) off of one of the Worlds 2010 Decks. Enjoy! :D

P.S If you have any suggestions, make them Extended-Legal please.

Deck discussion for Faeries

And raggedjoe! I'm the one who started this by inspiring them. I don't like the mainboard Tectonic Edge (or, atleast having 2 of them isn't good), and I often find that 3 Cryptic Command is enough, especially with all the 4 drops you got here. You might want to concider Smother, and Infest. The sideboard looks awesome to me, but then again its almost card for card mine.

Here's my Faerie deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=125418

Ah, god damnit I always forget something! You're actually correct about Tectonic Edge, I just realized that I have bassically 6 Colorless Lands out of 25, and that ain't good. I'm still going to keep 1 though, just in case. I understand the point about Crypic Command, and I agree that if you get 2 in an Opening Hand sucks bollocks, so I'll change it. Smother I just think doesn't work well in the current Extended Meta-Game, but there is that "New Affinity" Deck going around, so I will find space for it. Infest sounds like an epic Sideboard Card, so I'll add it right away! Thanks for the awesome feedback raggedjoe, and sorry 'bout the dumb description! :D

No problem man. The other card I forgot to mention is Preordain. The lack of that card in Jonathan Randle's deck is actually why I decided to make my own version of it - card advantage is very important in extended. Smother is, in my opinion, actualy a very useful card in the current meta due to its ability to remove black cards that you can't Doom Blade. Doran, the Siege Tower, Stinkweed Imp, Bloodghast, and more.

Alright, you got me, Smother is pretty damn good, but the reason I say it's not amazing is because I was thinking of Polymorph and Necrotic Ooze Decks, but you are correct, Smother is pretty damn good right now. You're right about Preordain, and I think it is definitely a better Card than Inquisition of Kozilek, and now that I have 2 Smothers, I can afford to get rid of it for 2 Preordains. Also, ain't it one hell of a coincidence we based our Decks off of the same one? Noice (as my friend would say).

Control heavy version of a Tempo deck. Just be careful playing this against people...they might want to punch you in the throat. =]

Ok, decent list. I'm goign to tell you how to make it kinda anti-meta so if you want to go that way, fine. If not, it's still a good deck.

First, Jace the Mind Sculptor. He's a house, but your turn 4 is filled to the brim. I'd say try Baby Jace, since it stops opponents Jaces, helps with draw, and your 3 drops are empty anyway.

Second, I think you might have too many tapped lands. Tar Pit is nice, but won't give any straight advantage. I'd run another Sunken Ruins or two, and maybe another Basic. You already have Mutavault, which is a much better man land.

That's all I can see right now.

Faeries went surprisingly well and finished off in 2nd place at Worlds 2010 this year, though I agree it is a bit off Meta, though. Your comment on Jace is actually very correct, and while I only run 2 he does kind of get in the way of my Counterspells sometimes, and my Turn 3 plays are kind of, well, off, so Jace Beleren would be a good addition. You are correct about Creeping Tar Pit, but I'll still keep 2 in because I do know a couple cases where my ass would be grass if I didn't have them, so I'll add in another Sunken Ruins for it. Thanks for the suggestions! :D
