This is currently my main EDH deck. I have been playing several different Krenko, Mob Boss EDH builds since M13, and this one has had the most success. Red is definitely the worst color in EDH; but despite the hindrance caused by his colors, Krenko ends up making a very good deck. This deck is great for players that know the game of MTG but are new to EDH, love combos, and/or don't want to (or can't) spend a lot of money on an EDH deck (as many decks become $400+ after lands alone). A great thing about this EDH deck, when it comes to budget, is that the mana base is very simple (every land can be a mountain and this deck will still run just fine), the best goblin tribal pieces are about $3 each and less besides Kiki-Jiki, and the best goblin in this whole deck is worth about 50 cents...or even less (skirk prospector). In addition, the supporting artifacts of this build only range between $1-$10 with only a few artifacts being within the higher half of this range. Most of these artifacts also have cheaper counterparts, so feel free to mix and match to allow this deck to fit your budget. This exact deck was designed to be very strong, but not exactly overpowered (for the sake of my meta at home). This deck wins through goblin aggro, infinite combos, passive damage through sac outlets, mass damage, and heck sometimes even mill!
For those who like this deck enough to move farther with it, completely overpower it, and break its budget, feel free to add some more expensive cards such as goblin welder, splinter twin, imperial recruiter, wheel of fortune, goblin piledriver, goblin lackey, divining top, etc. And for those who look at this deck and want to build their own Krenko deck, post your build and comment with a link to your deck. As a big fan of Krenko decks, I would love to check it out!
At first glance, this deck appears to be a convoluted mess of goblins, artifacts, and random red things thrown together with lands...but this deck actually has a lot of obvious syngergies working at once. The goal of this deck is to utilize untapping effects, sac outlets, passive damage sources, haste sources, etc. to make Krenko's activated ability much stronger than it should be. As long as Krenko doesn't get tucked into your deck, this deck has the capability of going from 0 to 60 out of nowhere. Having krenko in the command zone, some ramped mana to work with, and some of the strong combo pieces in this deck allows you to go from no board position to a huge swarm of goblins in the span of a main phase. With your hoard of goblins, you can easily win by pumping them with an artifact or goblin lord, then attacking. If directly attacking is out of the question, don't panic! Sacrificing your goblins to a sac outlet to kick rage thrower, boggart shenanigans, vicious shadows, etc. is a great way to win without entering the combat step. With Purphoros, simply multiplying your goblins with Krenko can win you the game! And with a handful of different passive damage sources, this deck wins without the combat step quite often. Of course, now I'm purposely beating around the bush here...everyone knows that Krenko, Mob Boss is well known for, and can be hated upon for, his infinite combos! This deck has tons of them, and here they are!
Infinite Goblins:
Krenko, Mob Boss + Thornbite Staff + any sac outlet (with 2 goblins in play)
Krenko, Mob Boss + Thornbite Staff + Ashnod's Altar/Mana Echoes - also infinite colorless mana
Krenko, Mob Boss + Thornbite Staff + Phyrexian Altar/Thermopod/Skirk Prospector - also infinite red mana
Krenko, Mob Boss + Sword of the Paruns/Staff of Domination + any sac outlet that produces mana/Mana Echoes - also infinite red or colorless mana
***Krenko, Mob Boss + any sac outlet that produces red mana + haste (with 8 other goblins/goblin tokens in play) - definitely one of the easiest to set up. This requires sacrificing Krenko himself, he comes back from the command zone by sacrificing your goblin tokens to a red mana sac outlet, he comes into play again (untapped obviously), then tap him. You will continuously make 2+ more goblins each time, which means 2+ more mana each time after sacrificing goblins. This will allow you to continually pay the 2 extra mana for each time Krenko is re-played. This is an insane way to win out of nowhere, and the entire table will be shocked the first time you use this ;)
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Thornbite Staff + Mogg War Marshal + sac outlet
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Staff of Domination + Mogg War Marshal + any sac outlet that produces mana
Destroy all Artifacts:
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Thornbite Staff + Tuktuk Scrapper + sac outlet
Infinite Damage with Goblin Sharpshooter:
Any Krenko, Mob Boss infinite goblin combo + Goblin Sharpshooter
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Thornbite Staff + Goblin Sharpshooter + sac outlet
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Staff of Domination + Goblin Sharpshooter + any sac outlet that produces mana
Krenko, Mob Boss + Thornbite Staff + Goblin Sharpshooter + sac outlet
Krenko, Mob Boss + Sword of the Paruns/Staff of Domination + Goblin Sharpshooter + any sac outlet that produces mana
***Any infinite goblin combo + Burn at the Stake - I know this combo has nothing to do with sharpshooter, but I believe it is worth mentioning this under the infinite damage section
Board-Wipe for Everyone But You:
Skirk Fire Marshal + Eldrazi Monument - not exactly an infinite combo, but a great synergy that this deck likes to utilize. Combine with Furnace of Rath for even more devastation :P
INFINITE MILL!!!!
***Krenko, Mob Boss + Thornbite Staff + Altar of Dementia - my favorite combo, because it makes absolutely no sense how this is possible playing mono red! This above combo is the easiest mill combo to pull off, but any of the above infinite goblin combos combined with Altar of Dementia will work the same way!
